This is week 18 and I'm feeling great lately and getting bigger by the day, literally. I'm just starting to feel the baby, but still not regularly. Our last Dr. appointment was 2 weeks ago and we got to hear the heartbeat for the first time which was incredible. I also had a quad screen done, which is where they draw some blood and test it to determine if there are any chromosomal abnormalities (like Downs) and also test for spina bifida and other problems that have escaped my brain. Well my Dr. said that no news is good news, that they only call if there's a reason for concern within 10 days, and we didn't get a call. So whew....what a relief that the little one is fine! I'm such a worry wart, every time my phone would ring last week I would be so scared to see who it was! We go back two weeks from today and this time we'll get to have an ultrasound to hopefully determine if it's a boy or girl. I plan on drinking a large cup of strong coffee before I go to try to get the baby dancing around to show it's goods!!! Hahaha!
Just over a week ago (the 22nd) I celebrated my 31st birthday by going down to NJ to visit Keith and Holly. The drive down there was a little scary on Friday afternoon, considering we were driving through the Catskills in the middle of a fierce snow storm, but Ryan's impressive driving skills landed us in NJ safe and sound (and with only slightly higher than normal blood pressure). K and H took us to a great Thai restaurant Friday night (I seriously can't stop thinking about the yummy drunken noodles that I ordered). Saturday afternoon Ryan and I took the train into NYC to see The Chorus Line on Broadway, afterward walking around as long as we could take the cold weather, which wasn't long. Later that evening we went shopping at Ikea which is a must every time we're in NJ to stock up on cheap "essentials"! A few of this trips essential buys were a potato masher and 4 unfinished mirrors for $1.99 each. Okay so maybe the mirrors weren't essential, but for crying out load they were less than 2 bucks!! We had such a fun weekend!
